Our Mission 

Founded in the summer of 2018, Viridian Strings brings world-class chamber music to the serene beauty of Northern Michigan. Artistic directors Kyle Stachnik and Joseph Skerik—both Interlochen Arts Academy alumni with deep roots in the Grand Traverse region—created this ensemble to showcase some of the most sought-after chamber musicians in the country.

Our members include recipients of the Avery Fisher Career Grant—among the highest honors for emerging instrumentalists in the United States—as well as top prizewinners in the 2023 and 2025 Young Concert Artist Guild Competition. These distinctions reflect a level of artistry recognized on the most competitive stages worldwide.

In addition to their performing careers, many of our artists hold faculty and teaching positions at universities and conservatories, shaping the next generation of musicians while maintaining active international careers.

As dedicated chamber musicians, they have appeared at premier festivals including Lincon Center Chamber Players, Kneisel Hall, Kronberg Academy, Marlboro Music, Music@Menlo, Ravinia Steans Institute, Verbier Academy, and Yellow Barn.

Viridian Strings is committed to bringing exceptional chamber music to the Grand Traverse region. Supported by generous donors, we've grown into a seasonal highlight—featuring immersive performances, artist residencies, educational outreach, and community engagement.

From intimate duo recitals and cello solo evenings to piano quartets and innovative string quartet programs, our summers offer a diverse array of concerts in beautiful venues across northern Michigan.
